About GHS Blind Annex
Founded in 1986, the Annex began as a small initiative for cater to visually impaired students in Northern Uganda. Over the decades, it has evolved into a vital educational hub, bolstered by partnerships with organizations such as Oysters & Pearls, Terra Renaissance, and the Nippon Foundation.
The Annex provides a tailored curriculum for both O’Level and A’Level students, aligned with national standards but adapted to meet the unique needs of visually impaired learners. Subjects include Mathematics, Sciences, Languages, and Humanities, all delivered with specialized teaching aids.

Equipped with tools like JAWS software for computers and Braille materials to foster learning.

From spelling bees to computer quizzes, we ensure our students are engaged and competitive.
Facilities

Computer Lab:
Equipped with JAWS software, Braille displays, screen magnification tools, and adaptive keyboards to enable students to engage with technology effectively.

Braille Library
A comprehensive collection of Braille books, audiobooks, tactile diagrams, and other accessible learning materials to support academic and personal growth.

Mobility Training Area:
A dedicated space for students to practice orientation and mobility skills, including cane techniques and spatial awareness exercises, fostering independence.

Sports
Adapted sports such as goalball, chess tournaments, and tactile board games to encourage physical activity, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
Music and Drama
Celebrating creativity through sound, performance, and storytelling, allowing students to express themselves artistically
